Essential Lithium Could Save Billions – and Undermine Big Pharma
Presentation at the European Parliament in Strasbourg
On June 18, 2025, I had the honor of giving a historic presentation at the European Parliament in Strasbourg — a deeply meaningful moment for me, and a first political breakthrough on our shared journey: gaining recognition of lithium as an essential trace element and approving it for use in dietary supplements.
The fact that I was invited to speak at the very heart of European regulatory power — the place where it is decided whether people will have free access to one of the most effective protectors of both mental and physical immune health — is no coincidence. It is one of the first tangible results of our successful petition: “Lithium: Recognition of Essentiality and Approval as a Dietary Supplement.”
This presentation marks not only my latest contribution to the topic — but also my most political one to date. For this occasion, I extensively revised and expanded my slides: scientifically rigorous as always, but with a heightened focus on the societal and public health implications of widespread lithium deficiency.
I was able to demonstrate that lithium is an essential trace element — critical not only for physical well-being, but above all for our mental health. Without sufficient lithium, the center of our brain’s mental immune system — the hippocampus — cannot function properly. As a result, our ability for critical thinking, resilience, perspective-taking, and compassion is impaired.
My heartfelt thanks also go to Mag. Gerald Hauser and Christine Anderson for inviting me to speak.
Special thanks to professional interpreter Matthias Heine for his precise and articulate English translation and voiceover of this video.
What you can do now
This presentation is now publicly available and can serve as a reliable reference. Use it. Contact your local representatives, physicians, and opinion leaders. Show them that this topic is scientifically grounded, medically urgent, and politically explosive. And please: help spread the word. Share the link, post it in your networks, start conversations. Every single action helps ensure that this knowledge can no longer be ignored.
It’s a beginning. But now, the decisive phase begins.

Congratulations Dr Nehls. Thank you for your dedication & persistence.
