Can anyone here clarify for me how much lithium orotate to take to obtain the recommended 1 mg of pure lithium? My confusion stems from the fact that every lithium supplement I can find in the U.S. is either 1 mg or 5 mg. of lithium orotate. The capsules I have say they are 1000 mcg (1 mg.) of lithium as lithium orotate. Does this mean the capsule actually contains 23 mg of lithium orotate, which is equivalent to 1 mg. of pure lithium? So I would take one of these daily to obtain the 1 mg of pure lithium for prevention of lithium-deficiency-related diseases? I don't know how to tell whether this capsule contains 1 mg. of pure lithium or 1 mg. of lithium orotate, which would require 23 capsules to get 1 mg of pure lithium.

Good question. The LEF product you're referring to (if it's this one, https://www.lifeextension.com/vitamins-supplements/item02403/lithium) is providing 1mg of actual lithium. Therefore they presumably contain 23mg of Lithium orotate.

As you have likely figured out ... you'd take one of those a day to get your 1mg daily dose.

Or you'd take 5 of them to get the 5mg a day dose, for dealing with a known case of brain inflammation, etc.

Another brand that has an excellent reputation is Pure Encapsulations. I see they make a 5mg and 1mg lithium supplements. The 1mg product is this: https://amzn.to/3VqN8F5

Life Extensions are also known for their quality. They have been creating nootropic and brain enhancement supplements (among other things) since the early 1980s. I first became aware of them in the early 1990s, when I was looking into the memory enhancing effects of DMAE and Phosphatidylcholine taken together. LEF were one of the only reliable sources of these nutrients I could in New Zealand at that time (imported from the US, obviously).

I am sharing all this because I see there are a LOT of companies making lithium orotate. Most of them are brands I've never heard of before. I would stick with reputable brands like PE and LEF.

Another very high quality brand is Premier Research Labs (based in Austin, Texas). They don't, however, have a Lithium product. They do make an ionic minerals product with 690 mcg of ionic lithium, per dose, called pH Minerals, Premier. Which I gather is an equivalent form to what you'd find in lithium rich mineral water. As Dr. Nehls pointed out, the half-life of that in the body will be too short. They are, however, a brand worth knowing about. Years ago I knew a guy who worked there, and from him I learned a lot about just how particular PRL are with every ingredient they use, etc.

What brand of lithium orotate 1mg capsules do you have?

I have been unable to find any with less than 5mg.

It's from Life Extension, at lef.org. Lots of interesting reading on that site, and a good source for supplements.

Hi Dr. Nehls- no man can be a genius in all fields. I am re-reading your articles- lithium is sounding eerily similar to another "missing nutrient"...Methylene Blue. Its quinone-like abilities suggest other covid cures (ivermectin; artemisin)......any thoughts?

Methylene blue came to my mind as well.

Lithium is a natural mineral whereas methylene blue is synthetic, I wonder what the implications of this could be?

Yes- it's confusing how the bottles of lithium orotate are labeled, but what's listed as 1mg is the actual 'elemental' or pure lithium which means that it's derived from approximately 26 mg of lithium orotate. So don't take 23 capsules!

After watching your recent interview on Lithium, and since its available here in Oregon, I decided to try it. (In addition I eat oysters once a week). After just 2 days of supplementation at 5 mg, I felt noticeably more energetic and am now approaching about 2 weeks, where my energy levels are back to pre-Covid (I had the 'disease' Nov. 2019, took only quarts of Burdock tea,, no hospital, 3 month 90% recovery). I can only guess that I very much needed this micro nutrient. I wish I could go back and give it to my depressed relatives growing up, I think my family was deficient in Lithium overall. Thank you so much for your work and the English translations.

I decided to try out the lithium orotate on myself. I've been microdosing myself at 1 mg of it daily. I have noticed I have more energy, experience a lot less aching muscles and joints, feel all around better, am more cheerful, and wake up more refreshed than I have in years. I have Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) and have suffered long effects of COVID and MRNA vax. I'm going to share this article with my internist and see what he thinks. Thanks for this information, Dr. Nehls!

Your experience on Lithium echoes mine, though I have been using the 5mg dose, I do hope to find the lesser. Pretty sure it wont hurt me either way...isn't it GREAT to not be so dang depressed!?!!

Yes! I've used the 1 mg/daily dose for 14 days now and am thinkng of trying a boost to 2 mg/daily. I've been able to stop using ibuprofen first thing when I get up, which I've done for about 15 years. I'm using the LifeExtension brand of 1 mg capsules. Good luck and continued improving health!

I see that you are using the HDT B1 and you are going to add the Li - My husband has been diagnosed with PD (no shaking, no stiff joints, but has cognitive deficits etc) We added the Li and he was almost hallucinating - maybe vivid dreams - would see things like pillows and make something out of the figure ie - 2 people talking - so I am going to stop the Li or maybe take down the dose 80 mg LiOr. Wondering if you had anything similar when combining the 2 protocols (Li and HDT)?

I was surprised! Amazon has a great review: "Global War on the Human Brain

Throughout the world, mental capacity is declining, especially among young people, while depression rates are rising dramatically. Meanwhile, one in forty men and women suffers from Alzheimer's, and the age of onset is falling rapidly. But the causes are not being eliminated, quite the opposite. Can this just be coincidence?

The Indoctrinated Brain introduces a largely unknown, powerful neurobiological mechanism whose externally induced dysfunction underlies these catastrophic developments.

Michael Nehls, medical doctor and internationally renowned molecular geneticist, lays out a shattering chain of circumstantial evidence indicating that behind these numerous negative influences lies a targeted, masterfully executed attack on our individuality. He points out how the raging wars against viruses, about climate change, or over national borders are—more likely intended than not—fundamentally providing the platform for such an offensive against the human brain that is steadily changing our being and is aimed at depriving us of our ability to think for ourselves.

But it is not too late. By exposing these brain-damaging processes and describing countermeasures that anyone can take, Nehls brings light and hope to this fateful chapter in human history. Nothing less will be decided than the question of whether our species can retain its humanity and its creative power or whether it will lose them irretrievably." https://amzn.to/3VoAasr

Directions:

I purchased some locally in south africa. All says 5mg elemental, we can't seem to be able to get 1mg. Will 5mg be too much? On the bottle it says 1 to 2 capsules per day, and if taken once, will it be best to take evenings. It seems to calm me down, maybe best for evenings and if unsure if it is too high, will 1 capsule suffice? Some other online sites say only to be taken when in low mood.

Take 1 capsule 1-2 times daily. DO NOT exceed two(2) capsules in a 24hour period unless otherwise directed by a healthcare professional.

For nootropic use, we suggest Lithium Orotate (5mg elemental lithium) at a recommended dose of one to two times per day.

People use Lithium Orotate only as needed. For example, when feeling anxious or in the middle of a mood swing.

Wow. In Kanada you cannot buy LO any more and you cannot have it shipped in. Customs will stop it. This just since Feb 2024, when I first ordered from iHerb after reading Indoctrinated Brain.
